Visegrád
Visegrád is 43 km far from Budapest to the North, along the 11th main road. It can be approached by car, bus or by ship on the Danube. Regular and private ships call at the MAHART (Hungarian Shipping Company) port. From Nagymaros a ferry carries passangers and cars hourly.
Inside Visegrád
Nagyvillám Hunter’s Inn is located on the top of Feketehegy (Black Hill) next to the parking area of the Bobsleigh hidden by the forest. Depending on the traffic it takes an hour from Budapest to get here on the 11th main road. Following the main road along the Danube, after crossing the town gate you should turn to the left to the direction of the Citadel and follow the winding road upwards. After passing the Citadel keep on going for another 500m till the parking area of the Bobsleigh and then turn to the left again.
By car
Nagyvillám Hunter’s Inn is 150m far from the parking area of the Bobsleigh to the left. Entering the parking area you can already catch sight of the towers, and the green roof of the restaurant on your left.
By bus
From the Árpád híd bus station, Budapest a bus leaves for Visegrád hourly. The journey time is one and a half hours depending on the traffic. From the town you can climb the hill on foot or by the City taxi that parks at the coast of the Danube.
By train
Take the train from the Western Railway Station to Szob and take off at Nagymaros (appr. an hour). Then take the ferry from Nagymaros to Visegrad that leaves on the hour.
On foot
In Visegrad parallely with the 11th main road the Fő street runs from which a small street leads upwards to the Calvary (next to the post office). Passing the stairs the street turns into a footpath with several look-out places. Reaching the Citadel turn towards the path leading to the toilets and follow the signposts till the restaurant. The tour takes approximately an hour.
